Karen Adkins is the founding Executive Director of Baltimore Outreach Services.
She holds a Master’s and Doctorate in Social Work, and has more than twenty years of experience in clinical practice and teaching.
Her expertise provides the resources needed to develop comprehensive programming for shelter residents and training for shelter staff in working with clients with complex problems.
Eileen Foreman came to Baltimore Outreach Services with more than 30 years of experience in human resources management at Verizon.
Ms. Foreman developed the jobs program, where she provides job coaching, skill assessment and work skills training for the women at the shelter. Her expertise and mentoring help our staff members continue to expand their skills as well.
Lisa Ghinger joined BOS in 2007 as our first Development Director.
She has experience in and understanding of fund development, non-profit management and the philanthropic community.
Ms. Ghinger has served as an executive director for a non-profit organization and program officer for a foundation.
Connie Crabtree developed the curriculum and serves as the instructor for the culinary arts program. Chef Crabtree’s thirty years of management in restaurants and catering businesses, as well as her experience as a culinary arts instructor, has given her the tools she needs to design a course that guarantees students’ success in commercial kitchens.
India Becton and Jennifer Grinath, certified teachers, staff our after-school program.
Eileen Loftus LCSW-C, our children’s therapist from Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, provides counseling to children and their families as they deal with the stress of being homeless.
Patty Orniston, RN from Mercy Medical Center's Children Health Outreach Program, visits the children on site, consults about health issues and refers them to medical providers.
The shelter staff is comprised of three full-time and three part-time shelter managers.
Carla Richardson is the lead shelter manager.
A full-time cook and part-time housekeeper complete the shelter staff.
Most of our direct line staff members were residents of our homeless shelter.
Three of our employees are enrolled in local colleges and one is pursuing her GED.
All of our full-time shelter staff have an employee benefits package that includes health insurance and a pension plan.
